Pentagon Memorial News

For those you who know my research regarding the interpretation of difficult history, you know this sort of site is right up my alley. How do we design a memorial for the Pentagon 9-11 site? How will it be different from the WTC site? Will it interpret the reconstruction of the Pentagon, as Mary Oehrlein told a CofC audience last fall?

Welcome to my blog, version 1.0

My name is Jennifer McStotts, and I am an assistant professor at the College of Charleston in South Carolina, USA. I am in the Sociology and Anthropology department here, though I’m neither a sociologist nor an anthropologist. I’m a preservationist and an attorney by training, and I teach in the historic preservation, urban studies, and archaeology programs. I research in the areas of preservation law and policy, including land use law and heritage interpretation.

The purpose of this blog is to reach out to students and alums with stories of interest to me, as well as to share my research as the opportunity arises. What else might you find here? I don’t know yet! Stay tuned…
